TOP TEN ATTRACTIONS

STO.NINO SHRINE

The Santo Nino Shrine is located in the old Magallanes Street in Cebu City. Historically, the Santo Nino or the Baby Jesus was brought from Spain in 1521 by the famous explorer Ferdinand Magellan, and was thought to have been lost. When the Spaniards returned and burned down the whole barangay in Cebu, they found the statue in a house untouched by the fire, inside a box, miraculously surviving the fire. The spot where the statue was found is currently the shrine of the Santo Nino.

MAGELLAN’S CROSS

Magellans cross is located beside the Santo Nino Shrine in Magallanes Street. It was bought over by the famous explorer Ferdinand Magellan and planted the cross on the spot where they came ashore in 1521. The original cross is encased in a wooden cross.

CEBU TAOIST TEMPLE

The Taoist Temple was established in 1972 to house the famous Taoist God, Q Kong Kong. It is very famous throughout Asia as it is said it gives a very accurate fortune telling to those who come all over Asia to Cebu to ask for its help. You can ask the temple priest for guidance when asking for your wish. Be sure to give thanks when your wish is granted.

CEBU TOPS

The Tops in Cebu is located in Busay. It is an observation deck, that is 12 kilometers from the center of Cebu. It is very romantic from sunset as it gives a 180 degrees vision of Cebu with its lights. On a clear day, you can see as far away as Bohol.

LAPU-LAPU MONUMENT

Lapu-Lapu is the famous chieftain who defied Ferdinand Magellan. They fought the famous battle of Mactan and where the spot that Magellan died, a statue of Lapu-Lapu was erected.

MUSEU SUGBO

Museu sugbo located in MJ Cuenco Ave. was established by Governor Gwen Garcia to showcase the historical riches of Cebu. It is a must see destination for historical buffs and students alike.

JESUIT HOUSE

Jesuit house is the site of the first house of the Jesuit General in the Philippines when they established their presence in Cebu.

UNIVERSITY OF SAN CARLOS MUSEUM

The University of San Carlos is the oldest established university in the Philippines. It claims to be even older than Harvard University. It is located in P. Del Rosario street and houses a generous collection of artifacts from early 6th century of Cebu to the present.

CASA GORORDO

Casa Gorordo is a must see house in Cebu. Located in the old Parian of Cebu. Its architecture represents how Cebu looked like in the early 19th century.

USP-RIZAL COLLECTION

The University of Southern Philippines houses one of the biggest collection of things owned by the National Hero Jose Rizal. It is located in Lahug and a must see for Rizal Buffs.
